Do you know why the compass needle always point to north??

The answer is : because the Earth is a huge magnet!
You can proof it by making your own compass.
To make your own magnet you will need this ingredient:
a.	a horse-shoe magnet
b.	3 needles
c.	a small strip of paper
d.	some plasticine
e.	sticky tape and scissors.

Follow this step:
1.	Hold a needle by the eye and stroke it gently about 6 times with a magnet. Always move the magnet in the same direction.
2.	Stroke a second needle in the same way. Fold the strip of paper in half and stick the needles to it with tape. Both needles must point the same direction.
3.	Push a third needle in a small lump of plasticine. Balance the paper on top so that can swing. Mark the needle-eye end with an “S” and the point-end with an “N”.
4.	If you want to take the compass outdoors, just hang the “N-S” paper of a thread. Tie the thread to a pencil and drop the paper into a glass jar.

Done. So simple right? Just try it…!

Making a clever messages with invisible ink have a lot of fun. You can make the invisible ink from simple ingredients that you can find on your home. You can play with this secret ink that only you and your friends know how to make visible.
You will need :

1. Lemon – squeeze in to glass.

2. A small stick or paint brush, or you also can use toothpick

3. Paper

Using the paint brush or stick, write your message on the paper, and let it dry. That’s a good idea to combine your letter with the invisible ink and the normal writing. After these fluids dry, they become invisible. To make the writing reappear you must heat the paper, or you can just make a paper near to the hot light bulb, you will surprise, because you will see your message appear it brown.

How it works?

This is happen because the heat burns the lemon ink and making it appear on the paper…

Do you know what is Sundial?

A sundial is a device that measures time by the position of the Sun. In common designs such as the horizontal sundial, the sun casts a shadow from its style (also called its gnomon, which is a thin rod or a sharp, straight edge), onto a flat surface marked with lines indicating the hours of the day. The style is the time telling edge of the gnomon. As the sun moves across the sky, the shadow-edge progressively aligns with different hour-lines on the plate. Such designs rely on the style being aligned with the axis of the Earth’s rotation. Hence, if such a sundial is to tell the correct time, the style must point towards the true north (not the north magnetic pole or south magnetic pole) and the style’s angle with horizontal must equal the sundial’s geographical latitude.

You can make sundial papercraft with your kids by print this template. You also need to teach your kids about this easy science. It will be fun to see the time in this sundial.

Do you like to see rainbows in the sky?? Rainbow usually appeared when the sun is shinning and it is raining at the same time. Rainbow only appeared on rainy day. But you can make it your self even now is sunny day. This is an easy experiment to make a rainbow.

Fill a small bowl with water. Put a small mirror into the bowl so that sun shines on it.
Now hold up a sheet of white paper to make the sun shinning on the mirror reflects onto the paper.
Hold the paper as still as you can.
And voilaa…..you will see rainbow colors on the paper.
Why it Works?

This is what happened..
When sunlight goes through a water-drop, the water drop will split into 7 main colors…there are violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. That is why the rainbow appeared when the sun shines on lots of drops of water.

Do you afraid when you hear thunderstorm with the flashes of lightning? A flash is huge, hot electric spark. I have one easy experiment that you can make a little thunderstorm safely at home. But, this experiment will make your fingers prick and tingle a bit. So, if you interested, follow step by step to making a spark.

Press a large lump of plasticine to the middle of a baking tray.

Press it hard, in order to make it stick well.

Put the tray on a big thick plastic bag. Hold the plasticine lump and rub the tray round and round on the bag.

Now pick up the tray by the plasticine. Hold a piece of metal, you can use a tin lid, close to one corner.

You will see a big spark jump from the tray to the tin. If you want to see it clearly, you can do it on the dark room.

How Does It Work???
This is the theory behind this experiment :
When you rub the tray on the bag, it makes electricity called Static Electricity. When there is enough, you will get a spark.
Static Electricity builds up in clouds before thunderstorm.
